Why do some heart disease patients recover and lead long, robust lives, while others wither and live like invalids? The answer lies in how people deal with the emotional ravages of the illness.

"Thankfully, Dr. Wayne Sotile has written the definitive guide for transforming heart disease and making sure you don't become a statistic. Here is a book that you, your heart, and your family will love."
-Christiane Northrup, M.D., author of Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom and The Wisdom of Menopause

"In Thriving With Heart Disease, Dr. Wayne Sotile has identified an important fact: for many heart patients, their coping attitudes, not the severity of the disease, may determine how long they will live and how happy they will be. Highly recommended."
-Dean Ornish, M.D., best-selling author and Director, Preventive Medicine Research Institute

"Dr. Sotile is one of the world's brightest and most personable psychologists. His advice and recommendations will help all individuals with cardiovascular disease, as well as those who are at risk of developing heart disease."
-Gordon A. Ewy, MD, Professor and Chief, Cardiology Director, University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center

"Dr. Sotile is, without question, this country's leading authority on the psychological, emotional, and relationship effects of making it through heart disease. For patients with heart disease and those who care about and for them, this book is a must read.
-Harry Croft, MD, Medical Director and Founder of The San Antonio Psychiatric Research Center

Thriving With Heart Disease

The web site that teaches heart patients and their loved ones how to cope with heart disease.

Hello, I'm Dr. Wayne Sotile. Since 1979, I have served as Director of Psychological Services for the Wake Forest University Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. This position has given me the privilege of working with thousands of heart patients and their families. What I have learned from these courageous people is that, while no one welcomes heart illness gladly, the truth is that, far and away, most heart patients and their families learn to live quite successfully with their illness.

The information on my web site -- just like my books, tapes, and lectures on this topic -- is designed to share with you the "secrets" of heart patients and their families who let this illness heal their lives, starting with their most important relationships.
